Thrift Show & Style

I'm so over the weather here in NYC. Seriously this is the most brutal winter/spring/wishy washy weather ever ugh!

The weather finally broke for like a day so I jumped on the opportunity to go thrifting...nicer weather is definitely inspiration. Typically when I go thrifting I pretty much buy whatever catches my eye, but on this occasion I gave myself a strict budget/item limit which forced me to be a little more selective with the items I chose. I'm trying to be a bit more disciplined when it comes to shopping. I tend to buy items then hang them in my closet never to be looked at again.  I'm such a hoarder :(

Following no real theme (how my inspiration works) above is the lookbook I created featuring my latest thrift finds. Clear & concise, I think this lookbook really summarizes my style perfectly!

I'm really into distressed denim right now. At one point in time rips & holes in your clothes symbolized poverty but now it's a fashion thing. It's almost like we're poking fun at the way times use to be and the judgements that were passed back then...progress, slowly but progression nonetheless.

Skirts & dresses are so not my thing but in essence of trying something different I picked up this salt & pepper pencil skirt by J. Crew. I knew immediately I would dress this skirt all the way down and add some edgy pieces into the mix. This was definitely my favorite and most creative look.

There's no denying my love for prints. This rose & leopard print shirt is gaudy but it works perfectly. It screams retro but somehow it still has a modern touch. You can do so much with a top like this and I cant wait to start experimenting.

One of my favorite items to buy from the thrift store are oversized button downs, they're so versatile (possible lookbook?) They come in particularly handy on my lazy days when I really dont feel like putting much effort into getting dressed. I just throw on some skinny jeans, an oversized button down, roll up the sleeves and I'm good to go.

I'm going to be 100% honest. When I first ran across this shirt I was not going to pick it up. Yes I loved it but I already have a nice selection of animal print plus this had many different animal prints intermixed and I was struggling trying to figure out how I would style it. Contemplating back & forth for a while I finally decided to challenge myself and get it...I'm glad I did.

What are some of your favorite thrift pieces?
